Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – The Vikings continue to sit atop their division six weeks into the season. Minnesota is a perfect 5-0 coming out of its bye week and holds a game-and-a-half lead in the NFC North, with the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers both improving to 4-2 on Sunday. Detroit sits at 3-2 after its own Week Six bye.
The Vikings are already 2-0 in the division after back-to-back wins over the Packers and Bears to open the season. They followed that with a road win at Tampa Bay, a 15-10 win over Miami and a 23-13 win at New Orleans heading into the break.
Defense has carried the load. Brian Flores’ aggressive, blitz-heavy unit has piled up strong pressure and takeaway numbers, and Minnesota leads the NFL in turnover margin. The offense has been less steady, with quarterback Kyler Murray missing time early in the season with a head injury.
The bye came at a good time. Head coach Kevin O’Connell’s team was banged up at several key positions, and receiver Jordan Addison (hamstring) and left tackle Christian Darrisaw (concussion) are both expected back after the week off.
The Vikings return to action in Week Seven when they host the Indianapolis Colts at U.S. Bank Stadium. Kickoff is set for 12:00 p.m. Sunday, October 25th, on CBS. The Colts come in at 2-4 after the Tennessee Titans rallied for a 26-20 win in Indianapolis on Sunday, erasing a 13-0 halftime deficit. Minnesota beat Indianapolis 21-13 the last time the teams met at U.S. Bank Stadium in 2024.
A big division test follows. The Vikings play at Detroit on November 1st.
