Voters will have several opportunities this fall to hear from local candidates before the November election.
The League of Women Voters of Detroit Lakes Area has announced three candidate forums in Detroit Lakes.
The first will be Tuesday, September 15, featuring candidates for Detroit Lakes School Board.
On Thursday, September 17, candidates for three Becker County offices will take part in a forum: Auditor-Treasurer, Sheriff and County Commissioner District 1.
Then, on Tuesday, September 22, the forum will feature candidates for Detroit Lakes City Council.
All three Detroit Lakes forums will be held at M State, located at 900 Minnesota Highway 34. Doors open at 5:30 pm, with the forums beginning at 6.
The League of Women Voters of Detroit Lakes Area is a nonpartisan, grassroots organization working to protect and expand voting rights and ensure everyone is represented in our democracy.
Carol Nustad with the League says the forums give voters an opportunity to hear directly from the candidates before making their decisions.
Nustad’s reminder to voters is simple: “It’s your vote. Make it count.”
