Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – A two-run homer from Kody Clemens in the sixth inning put the Minnesota Twins back in front and carried them to a 3-2 win over the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday at Comerica Park.
The win snapped a two-game Twins losing streak.
Minnesota scored first, taking a 1-0 lead in the opening inning on a Josh Bell RBI. Detroit answered in the fifth, when shortstop Kevin McGonigle drove in both Tiger runs with a home run. Clemens put the Twins ahead for good an inning later.
Dean Kremer picked up the win, going five innings and giving up two runs on five hits with three strikeouts. Four Minnesota relievers held Detroit scoreless the rest of the way, with Yoendrys Gómez closing it out for the save. Detroit’s Drew Anderson took the loss.
Both clubs finished with just five hits, and neither had a hit with a runner in scoring position.
The teams wrap up the three-game series today at 12:10 p.m. at Comerica Park.
