Wild Re-Sign Bobby Brink to One-Year Deal

Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – The Minnesota Wild are bringing back a young forward on the eve of free agency.

The team announced Tuesday it has signed 24-year-old winger Bobby Brink to a one-year contract worth $2.75 million. The deal keeps the Minnetonka native in Minnesota after he was set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1st.

Brink recorded 15 goals and 15 assists across 68 games last season split between the Philadelphia Flyers and the Wild. Minnesota acquired him from Philadelphia on March 6th in exchange for defenseman David Jiricek. He added one assist in four Stanley Cup Playoff games with the Wild.

The Wild had declined to issue Brink a qualifying offer earlier in the week, a move that would have carried a price tag near $4 million and opened the door for him to test the open market. Instead, the two sides agreed to the lower cap hit, giving Minnesota added flexibility heading into free agency and giving Brink a chance to earn a larger role next season.

Drafted 34th overall by Philadelphia in 2019, Brink has 38 goals and 98 points in 214 career NHL games.
