DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – The city of Detroit Lakes established their preliminary 2022 Tax Levy, Tuesday during their regular council meeting.
The maximum amount of the new tax levy that has been proposed is 10.2%. Mayor Matt Brenk says the tax hike may seem high, but there are good reasons, “After a number of years we’ve hired an additional park employee, we’ve been running a little short and we have a lot of facilities we take care of including the city beach and recreational facilities and we feel they’re very important to our quality of life.”
The proposed preliminary levy is $6,593,725 and will now be sent to the County and then finally adopted in December after a Truth in Taxation hearing.
