Detroit Lakes , MN (KDLM)-
Perham Health is planning a major expansion of its hospital campus to meet growing healthcare needs across the region.
The proposed project would add about 44 thousand square feet to the facility, with expanded space for surgery, the birth center and emergency department. It would also provide additional room for other clinical services and future growth.
The total project investment is estimated at 71 million dollars. That includes about 55 million in construction costs, with the remainder covering medical equipment, furnishings, technology and financing.
Perham Health CEO Chuck Hofius says the expansion comes after years of planning and reflects the tremendous growth the organization has experienced since opening its current hospital nearly 15 years ago. The project will help ensure patients can continue receiving high quality healthcare close to home.
Pending final planning approvals and favorable construction bids, work is expected to begin next year. The project will be completed in multiple phases.
