Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – The Vikings suffered their first loss of the season Sunday, as Jared Goff connected with Jameson Williams on a seven-yard touchdown pass with 4:40 left to lift the Detroit Lions to a 19-15 win in Detroit.
The score came just minutes after Minnesota had taken the lead. Kyler Murray found T.J. Hockenson for an eight-yard touchdown with 8:48 to play, then hit Jordan Addison on a two-point conversion to put the Vikings up 15-12.
Murray completed 17 of 29 passes for 210 yards, with two touchdowns and an interception. His one-yard touchdown pass to Justin Jefferson early in the second quarter gave Minnesota a 7-3 lead, and the Vikings took a 7-6 edge into halftime after a 37-yard Jake Bates field goal with five seconds left in the half.
Detroit went back in front in the third quarter on a 30-yard touchdown run by Jahmyr Gibbs, though the Lions failed on the two-point try and led 12-7. Gibbs’ score was part of a 230-yard rushing day for the Lions, who controlled the ball for more than 35 minutes. The Vikings finished with 81 rushing yards.
The Vikings fall to 6-1, while the Lions improve to 5-2. Minnesota hosts the 6-1 Buffalo Bills next Monday, November 9th, at 7:15 p.m.
