Detroit Lakes , MN (KDLM) – The Vikings are headed to Detroit for an NFC North clash with the Lions on Sunday. Minnesota is the last undefeated team in the NFL at 6-and-0. Detroit is two games back in the division at 4-and-2.
Kickoff at Ford Field is set for 12:00 p.m. on FOX.
The Vikings became the league’s only unbeaten team last weekend. They beat the Indianapolis Colts 16-10 at U.S. Bank Stadium, and later that day San Francisco and Kansas City both suffered their first losses.
Defense and special teams have carried Minnesota this season. Linebacker Blake Cashman had 12 tackles and two sacks against the Colts, and safety Harrison Smith sealed the win with an interception in the final minute. Kicker Will Reichard added three field goals, including one from 52 yards.
The offense has been slower to get going. The Vikings’ 125 points are the second-fewest by a 6-and-0 team since 1940. Quarterback Kyler Murray’s five-yard touchdown pass to tight end T.J. Hockenson early in the fourth quarter was the team’s only touchdown against Indianapolis.
Running back Aaron Jones is day-to-day after hurting his knee against the Colts. Head coach Kevin O’Connell said Monday he isn’t worried about depth at the position, with Jordan Mason and Deejay Dallas ready to step in. Mason ran for 68 yards on 15 carries last Sunday.
Detroit is also coming off a win, beating Green Bay on a last-second field goal at Ford Field.
Minnesota swept the Lions last season, winning 27-24 in Detroit and 23-10 on Christmas Day in Minneapolis. That second win knocked the Lions out of playoff contention.
Sunday’s game kicks off a tough four-game stretch for the Vikings. They host Buffalo on Monday Night Football on November 9th at 7:15 p.m., then face Green Bay and San Francisco.
