Detroit Lakes , MN (KDLM/Learfield)- The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office has charged two individuals for their conduct during the Minnesota primary election on August 11. 42-year-old James O’Keefe and 26-year-old Cam Higby are both facing felony charges of unlawful voting and identity theft. O’Keefe and Higby are accused of filming themselves as they posted the videos to social media to try to show doubt about how secure Minnesota’s voting systems are. In the videos, both Mr. O’Keefe and Mr. Higby visited multiple precincts in Hennepin County and misrepresented their identities by giving election judges names of registered voters in the precinct without those voters’ knowledge or permission. Hennepin County Attorney said despite these being felonies, the two men will likely avoid prison and may be sentenced to some jail time and probation if convicted.
