Detroit Lakes , MN (KDLM)- A 38-year-old Fergus Falls man is facing multiple felony burglary charges after investigators say a homeowner’s doorbell camera connected him to a string of break-ins across Otter Tail County.
Christopher Yost is facing four counts of second-degree burglary, where three of the charges involve homes near Underwood, Fergus Falls and Clitherall. The fourth involves the burglary of a church in Vining.
A complaint says a homeowner near Underwood received a Ring camera alert at 2:30 am on October 5th showing a man on the device. Law enforcement would eventually find a broken door frame and strike plate inside, although it wasn’t clear if anything was stolen.
Yost also apparently broke into the church and left his debit card behind, and then a fraudulent check was cashed under his name for $2,250. Court documents also say that he was stealing in connection for a meth addiction and that he was trying to buy the drug so he can resell it.
Yost is currently in custody at the Otter Tail County Jail.
