Frazee Candidate Forum a Success

By Karen Downing Oct 7, 2026 | 12:27 PM

Detroit Lakes , MN (KDLM)-

About 100 people attended a Frazee candidate forum Monday evening at the Frazee Event Center, a significant increase from last year’s turnout of about 20 people.

The forum, hosted by the League of Women Voters and Cornerstone Community Youth and Family Resource Center, featured candidates for Mayor, City Council and the Frazee-Vergas School Board.

Erik Anderson and Shon Bachleitner are running for mayor. Five candidates are seeking two City Council seats, while five candidates are running for four School Board seats.

Mackenzie Hamm, director of Cornerstone, says affordable and available housing was a top issue discussed by the city candidates. School board candidates discussed budgets and resource management.

The new school board will also likely be involved in selecting a new superintendent. Terry Karger is expected to retire after the current school year.

Cornerstone livestreamed the forum, and a recording is available on its Facebook page
