Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – The Minnesota Vikings made it official Tuesday, moving starting left guard Donovan Jackson to injured reserve with a torn meniscus.
Jackson was hurt in the first quarter of Sunday’s 15-10 win over the Miami Dolphins and did not return. Head Coach Kevin O’Connell announced Monday that the injury will require surgery, and Jackson is likely to miss the rest of the regular season.
Joe Huber took over at left guard after Jackson left Sunday’s game.
Jackson is in his second season with Minnesota after the team drafted him in the first round out of Ohio State in 2025. He started all 14 games he played as a rookie and had started each of the Vikings’ first four games this season. He had shown improvement as a pass blocker early this year.
The injury comes as the offensive line is already banged up. Left tackle Christian Darrisaw is in the league’s concussion protocol, which leaves his status uncertain for Sunday’s game in New Orleans.
The Vikings also shuffled the practice squad Tuesday. Minnesota released punter Johnny Hekker, running back Devin Neal and cornerback Natrone Brooks, and signed tackle Tristan Leigh. Cornerback Tyreek Chappell was waived from injured reserve.
Minnesota is 4-0 heading into the trip to face the Saints.
