Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – The Minnesota Vikings shuffled their roster Tuesday, promoting a veteran pass rusher and a former Gophers quarterback while reportedly adding depth in the backfield.
Minnesota signed outside linebacker Kyle Van Noy and quarterback Max Brosmer from the practice squad to the active roster.
Brosmer’s promotion comes one day after the Vikings traded J.J. McCarthy to the New York Giants for a 2027 fifth-round draft pick. Brosmer, who played one season at the University of Minnesota, made two starts for the Vikings as a rookie last season.
Van Noy was elevated from the practice squad for each of the team’s first three games. The 35-year-old former Pro Bowler has seven tackles this season, including four for loss, along with 1.5 sacks. He played under Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores in both New England and Miami.
The Vikings also placed tight end Josh Oliver on injured reserve and, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, released punter Johnny Hekker.
NFL insider Jordan Schultz reports the Vikings are also signing running back Devin Neal. Neal, a sixth-round pick by New Orleans in 2025, played in 10 games for the Saints as a rookie, including three starts.
