Detroit Lakes , MN (KDLM)-
According to a news release from Arvig, a community project in Pelican Rapids received a major boost this week with a $25,000 donation from the telecommunications company.
The contribution will support the transformation of the city’s former Congregational Church into the Bridge Center, a multi-purpose community hub designed to serve residents of all ages.
Plans for the Bridge Center include a licensed community kitchen for entrepreneurs and community gatherings, an event space, a family resource center, and a permanent home for youth programs.
Construction is already underway on the building’s upper level, which will house the event space. Fundraising continues for the lower level, where the shared kitchen, youth center, and family resource center will be located.
David Arvig, Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Arvig, says the company is proud to support projects that create opportunities for residents to connect and strengthen their communities.
Bridge Center Project Manager Celeste Koppe says the donation comes at an important time as construction moves forward, bringing the organization one step closer to creating a community hub that will serve Pelican Rapids for years to come.
