Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – The Minnesota Twins scored three runs with two outs in the seventh inning to beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 4-2 at Chase Field, claiming the rubber match of their three-game series in Phoenix.
Arizona carried a two-run lead into the seventh before Minnesota’s late rally. Trevor Larnach and Alex Jackson each finished with two hits and an RBI, and Cody Laweryson picked up the win out of the bullpen.
The victory moves the Twins to 38-41 and into third place in the AL Central. Minnesota continues its road trip tonight against the Los Angeles Dodgers, with right-hander Zebby Matthews scheduled to start.
In a separate roster move, the Twins designated reliever Justin Lawrence for assignment over the weekend. Minnesota had acquired Lawrence for cash considerations on June 2nd, but he struggled in his brief stint with the club, allowing 12 runs on nine walks and 10 hits across six innings. The team activated left-hander Kendry Rojas from the injured list in the corresponding move.
