Sioux Falls man charged with impersonating police

A Sioux Falls man was charged with impersonating a police officer after a woman noticed she was being followed while driving her vehicle.

Sam Clemens, public information officer for the Sioux Falls Police Department, said a woman noticed she was being followed in her car and circled the block four times when she arrived at her destination.

Clemens said: “Once (her vehicle) stopped, the vehicle following her stopped. (The woman and her passengers) got out to confront the man. He claimed he was an undercover police officer. They asked for his badge number and identification, but he did not provide that.”

Clemens then said, 44-year-old Ronald Stief sped off in his car, but the victims were able to get enough information on him and the vehicle for police to make an arrest.

If you ever notice you are being followed, Clemens added, the best thing to do is call police right away.

Red River Valley Fair to run 3 separated weekends in 2024

Significant changes are being made to the 2024 Red River Valley Fair.

The annual event in West Fargo will be held over three separate weekends next year, instead of a single 10-day run.

Next year’s fair will take place June 28-30, July 4-7 and July 11-14.

Fair officials say the extended schedule will make the fair “more accessible and enjoyable for families and visitors from near and far.”

They say the fair will continue to feature traditions, including agricultural exhibitions, carnival rides, live music and a fireworks display on July 4th.
