(KDLM) – Nearly 15 months after Season One of ‘Rural By Choice’ debuted on the Otter Tail County website, Season Two of the acclaimed mini-series will debut on Sunday evening.

‘Rural By Choice’ is a docu-series that promotes Otter Tail County as a great place to visit, live, and work, but it also gets deeper to explore the perceptions of rural life. In season one, the topics of the docuseries include outdoor recreation, farming, and local foods, but weave in conversations about diversity, the rural vs. urban divide, and why people choose to live in rural areas. The first seven episodes have amassed 317,000 views on YouTube and Facebook combined.

With Season One focused on fall and summer activities in Otter Tail County, Season Two will focus on winter activities in Greater Minnesota with topics including people in urban areas tending to believe that they have to give up their dreams to live rurally or that winter will be several months of boredom.

Season Two will once again star Perham-native Cory Hepola, notably known for his time on WCCO Radio and for his candidacy for Minnesota governor.

“I think Rural By Choice tells unique stories that people all over Otter Tail County, the state, and the country can relate to,” says Hepola. “The episodes give people a lot to think about and shine a light on the idea that living in different places doesn’t divide us, instead it gives us an opportunity to find mutual respect. While filming Rural by Choice, I got the chance to find out more, and while doing that, discovered a new appreciation and understanding of rural living.

This season, Hepola snowmobiles, ice fishes, enjoys a post-sauna roll in the snow, and will feature two cultural resources in Otter Tail County: the New York Mills Regional Cultural Center and the new Otter Cove Children’s Museum.

The series was produced by Micah and Jenna Kvidt of Kvidt Creative also Otter Tail County natives, and co-produced by Otter Tail County’s Rural Rebound Initiative Coordinator, Erik Osberg.
