(KDLM) – Otter Tail County’s seven-part docuseries ‘Rural By Choice’ will be featured at Twin Cities Film Fest at the end of October. The docuseries features WCCO Radio personality Cory Hepola, a Perham High School grad as he returns home to Ottertail County to experience some of the things that he missed out on.
“Growing up here, I loved it, or at least what I knew about it,” says Hepola. “While filming Rural by Choice, I got the chance to find out more, and while doing that, discovered a new appreciation and understanding of rural living.”
Each episode of the series tells the story of some of the most important things in Otter Tail County—farming and agriculture, fishing and outdoor recreation, local food and brews, arts and culture, supportive schools, and friendly community members. While fun and entertaining, the episodes also do not shy away from more thoughtful conversations about diversity, the ‘rural vs. urban divide,’ and perceptions of life in rural places.
The series was produced by Micah and Jenna Kvidt of Kvidt Creative also Otter Tail County natives, and co-produced by Otter Tail County’s Rural Rebound Initiative Coordinator, Erik Osberg.
There will be a special screening of all seven episodes at 4:00 on Sunday, October 24th, followed by a Q&A with Kvidt Creative and Hepola.
New episodes of Rural By Choice premiere on YouTube at 7:27 every Sunday night.
