Detroit Lakes , MN (KDLM)- The DFL and GOP candidates running to be Minnesota’s next Governor participated in a televised debate on Wednesday in Rochester. Democrat U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar and Republican Minnesota House Speaker Lisa Demuth went back and forth for an hour about issues like fraud, taxes and agriculture. Demuth says she will fire state agency commissioners who allowed nearly $9 billion in taxpayer fraud to happen. She also wants to lower the state’s vehicle registration fees and speed up the process of allowing farmer permits. Klobuchar wants to enact surprise fraud audits, and she says she wants to lower both health care costs and child care costs. She also says she would grow agricultural markets. Early voting has started and Election Day is November 3rd. The winner will become the first female Governor in state history.
Meanwhile, President Donald Trump has endorsed Lisa Demuth for Governor. Trump had originally supported My Pillow Founder Mike Lindell in the GOP Primary, but Demuth beat Lindell by 11 points and more than 45,000 votes.
