Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – The undefeated Vikings came out of their bye week in good shape, with just three players limited at Wednesday’s practice as they get ready to host the Indianapolis Colts.
Wide receiver Justin Jefferson (ankle), right tackle Brian O’Neill (knee) and cornerback James Pierre (foot) were listed as limited participants on the team’s first injury report of the week. No Vikings player missed practice.
Jefferson sprained his right ankle earlier this season and played only seven snaps combined against Tampa Bay and Miami. He told reporters Wednesday the ankle is improving every day. Even with the missed time, he leads the team with 19 catches for 258 yards and three touchdowns.
Five other players were full participants, including four who sat out the team’s last game. Receiver Jordan Addison (hamstring), left tackle Christian Darrisaw (concussion), tight end T.J. Hockenson (concussion), running back Jordan Mason (thumb) and cornerback Charles Demmings (hamstring) all practiced fully. Head coach Kevin O’Connell says Darrisaw and Hockenson remain in the concussion protocol, but a full practice is the final step before they can be cleared.
Indianapolis has a longer list. Eight Colts missed Wednesday’s practice with injuries, including cornerback Sauce Gardner (calf), tight end Tyler Warren (groin) and right guard Matt Goncalves (ankle). The Colts are 2-and-4 after back-to-back losses and fired general manager Chris Ballard on Monday.
Minnesota is 5-and-0 and has the NFL’s stingiest defense, allowing just 12.8 points per game.
Players will receive game status designations Friday. Kickoff Sunday, October 25th at US Bank Stadium is set for 12:00 p.m. on CBS.
