18-Year-Old Arrested For Suspected Drunk Driving Crash That Hurt Two People Near Detroit Lakes

Detroit Lakes , MN (KDLM/KFGO/KBRF)-An 18-year-old man was arrested last Friday night for his alleged role in a suspected drunk driving crash that hurt two people near Detroit Lakes.

The Minnesota State Patrol says Gabriel Schermerhorn was driving north on County Road 29 when his car hit an SUV going west on Highway 34. 

A 44-year-old Detroit Lakes and a 65-year-old Detroit Lakes man were both in the SUV and were injured. The 44-year-old has non-life-threatening injuries, but the 65-year-old has life-threatening injuries. Both men were taken to Essentia Health in Detroit Lakes and two other passengers in the SUV were not injured.

Schermerhorn is being held at the Becker County Jail on charges for criminal vehicular operation. The crash remains under investigation.
