Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – The New York Yankees scored six runs in the eighth inning to wipe out a Minnesota lead and open their series at Target Field with an 8-3 win Monday night.

The Twins carried a 2-1 edge into the inning behind Dean Kremer, who allowed one run on two hits over 5 2/3 innings and struck out five. The bullpen could not hold it. Andrew Morris was tagged with the loss after allowing three runs on three hits while recording just one out, and A.J. Minter left without retiring a batter.

Aaron Judge, José Caballero and Austin Wells all homered for New York. Judge drove in three.

Emmanuel Rodriguez tripled home two runs in the sixth for Minnesota’s only real threat, and Josh Bell added a solo homer in the eighth. The Twins went 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position. New York committed three errors and still won by five.

Minnesota has dropped four of its last five. The teams continue the three-game set tonight at 6:40 p.m. at Target Field.
