Essentia Health is offering several options for people who want to get vaccinated ahead of respiratory virus season.
Walk-in vaccine clinics and special events are being held at Essentia clinics and pharmacies. People can also schedule a vaccine appointment through MyChart or by calling. People who already have an upcoming appointment can also ask their care team about receiving vaccines during that visit.
Available vaccines include influenza and RSV, along with COVID-19 vaccines as they become available. Essentia says COVID vaccine availability will vary by location, so people should check with their local clinic or pharmacy.
Essentia pediatrician Dr. Dhilhan Marasinghe says vaccines remain one of the most effective ways to prevent severe illness, hospitalization and complications from respiratory viruses and getting vaccinated helps protect family members and others in the community who may be more vulnerable to serious illness.
Respiratory vaccines are covered by Medicare, Medicaid and most commercial insurance plans.
