Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – Cleveland’s bats did the damage Sunday afternoon, pounding out 14 hits and three home runs in a 9-2 win over the Twins that gave the Guardians the series at Target Field.
Steven Kwan went 3-for-5 with a homer and two RBI, Jo Adell and Travis Bazzana also went deep, and Bazzana drove in three. Cleveland broke the game open late, tacking on three runs in the ninth inning.
Joe Ryan took the loss for Minnesota. He went four innings and gave up four runs on seven hits, including two homers, with a walk and one strikeout. Tanner Bibee earned the win for Cleveland, allowing two runs over six and two-thirds innings while striking out seven.
The Twins managed just six hits and went 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position. Trevor Larnach accounted for most of the offense with a solo home run and a double, and Kody Clemens drove in the other run.
Minnesota opens a three-game set against the New York Yankees tonight at Target Field. First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 p.m.
