Detroit Lakes , MN (KDLM)-
Looney Days returns to Vergas this week, with five days of family fun running through Sunday.
This year’s theme is Red, White & Looney. The festival began in 1965 and has grown into one of the region’s largest summer celebrations, attracting about 30,000 visitors last year.
Activities include live music, food trucks, a pickleball tournament, fireworks, the popular wiener dog races, a street fair, a classic car show, the Grand Parade and much more.
Looney Days Co-Chair Vanessa Perry has been involved with the festival for the past 24 years. She says the wiener dog races are one of her favorite events because she loves seeing the dogs running around town all day. Perry says the street fair and Saturday night’s street dance are also crowd favorites.
