Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – The American League beat the National League 4-0 in the 2026 MLB All-Star Game at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia on Tuesday, July 14th, closing out the Midsummer Classic before the regular season resumes this week.
Twins’ right-hander Joe Ryan struck out two batters over a scoreless inning of relief for the AL, allowing just one hit. It was Ryan’s second-straight All-Star Game appearance.
New York’s Cody Bellinger was named the game’s Most Valuable Player after driving in two runs with a first-inning single off Phillies starter Cristopher Sánchez. Yankees teammate Ben Rice added an RBI single in the same inning, and Chicago White Sox infielder Miguel Vargas added a solo home run in the eighth for the AL’s final run.
AL starter Dylan Cease struck out three of the four batters he faced in the first inning, and AL pitchers finished with 15 strikeouts on the night. The National League managed just three hits and never advanced a runner past first base. Brewers’ catcher William Contreras went hitless in his lone plate appearance for the NL, flying out to right field in the sixth inning.
The win pushed the American League’s all-time record in the Midsummer Classic to 49-45-2 and marked the first All-Star Game shutout since 2013.
With the break now over, the Twins return to action Friday, July 17th, opening a three-game series against the Cubs at Wrigley Field. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Central. The series continues Saturday at 1:20 p.m. and wraps up Sunday at 1:20 p.m.
