More than 200 Businesses Helped Through Becker County Grant Programs

DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – More than 200 businesses were helped in Becker County through the county’s COVID relief grants.

An average grant of $10,000 was given to businesses through the county’s Block Grant program, while an average of $16,000 was given to businesses through the county’s CARES-3 Grant program.

In total the county has awarded $857,000 in COVID relief grants.

Mike Brethorst, Becker County Administrator says the County is anticipating to receive additional Federal funds soon, “there will be additional programming dollars coming in the next 3 months and so we’ll be starting the process again to ensure that businesses that are impacted by COVID-19 will have a backstop to assist them so they can continue their operations in a safe and responsible way.

An estimated $6.68 million in COVID-19 relief to Becker County has been awarded through the American Relief plan to help make up for budget shortfalls suffered during the year-long pandemic.
