Laker Boys Golf Finishes Second at Meet In Bemidji; JV finishes eighth

BEMIDJI, MINN (KDLM) – The Laker boys varsity and JV golf teams played the Bemidji Town and Country Club on Friday and Saturday, with the varsity team finishing second overall and the JV team taking eighth in the 13-team meet.

Logan Schons (80/75/155), Brock Burhans (81/74/155), and Tyler Stensgard (78/77/155) all tied for 11th place with two-day totals of 155, with Ben Hines finishing in 18th place with 79/79/158. Lawson Justesen tied for 19th with a 79/80/159, and Carter Whitworth finished tied for 23rd with an 82/80/162.

The Laker JV team was led by Noah Meyer’s 26th-place finish with a 78/85/163. Owen Chiodo finished tied for 28th by carding an 81/83/164, Connor Nelson placed tied for 36th with an 85/82/167, and Mason Deraney was tied for 39th with a 79/89/168 to finish top-four for the Lakers. Sully Braaten finished 42nd with an 85/84/169 and Luke Helm tied for 62nd with an 87/91/178.

Nate Peyerl of West Fargo Sheyenne won medalist honors with a 72/72/144 over the two days, helping lead WFS to the tournament win with a combined 599.

Both Laker teams will be back in action this Tuesday: the JV team will golf at Forest Hills Golf Course at 9:00, with the Varsity heading to The Preserve at Grand View Lodge in Pequot Lakes.
