PARK RAPIDS, MINN (KDLM) – The Pequot Lakes Patriots boys golf team played spoiler in their final MidState Conference Golf Meet on Monday afternoon, winning the 2023 Conference Title and ending Detroit Lakes’ string of 28-straight MidState titles.
Pequot Lakes edged out the Lakers by one stroke at Headwaters Golf Course on Monday afternoon. Pequot Lakes is leaving the MidState for the Granite Ridge Conference next season.
Despite the loss, the Lakers played some of its best golf of the season, shooting a combined 297 with six players finishing with scores in the 70s: Logan Schons, Lawsen Justesen, and Carter Whitworth all tied for third place by shooting one-over-par 73s, Brock Burhans tied for 11th with a 78, and Tyler Stensgard and Ben Hines finished tied for 13th by carding 79s.
Carter White of Staples-Motley won the individual conference championship with a 71 to lead the Cardinals to a third-place finish overall.
