(KDLM) – 128 players will be in Mayville, North Dakota for the 2023 North Dakota Shrine Bowl on June 24th, including two Detroit Lakes Lakers.
The rosters for the annual All-Star Game were announced on Monday, and among the names of North Dakota and Minnesota high school players include Detroit Lakes WR/DB/P Charlie Kalina and OL/LB Brock Okeson.
The North Dakota Shrine Bowl was created in 1974 with the goal of honoring high school football athletes who excel both on and off the field and display high character, to raise awareness and funds for the Shriners Children’s nonprofit, and informing the public about the organization.
Rosters for each game are split between East and West. The 9-man teams consist of 26 players per roster while the 11-man teams have 38 players rostered.
The weeklong event, hosted by the El Zagal Shriners and Kem Shriners, begins June 20 and concludes with gameday on June 24. There will be two games on the 24th: the 11-man game is 4 p.m, with the 9-man contest to follow at 7 p.m.
Other area players participating in the game include Caleb Zejdlik of East Grand Forks, Ethan Boll of Crookston, and Landon Gilespie and Zeke Noel of Lake Park-Audubon.
