PARK RAPIDS, MN (KDLM) – The Laker boys basketball team beat the Park Rapids Panthers on Tuesday night 74-49 at Park Rapids High School. Detroit Lakes bounced back after a loss in the previous night against Pequot Lakes 59-43 and moved their record to 16-8 overall and 7-1 in the Midstate Conference.
The Lakers had a balanced scoring attack in the first half, with six players scoring points. Devon Berg led the Lakers in scoring in the first half with nine points. Park Rapids scored 23 points in the first half, with 14 points coming from Noah Larson. Detroit Lakes led at halftime 35-23.
In the second half, it was all Detroit Lakes. Devon Berg got hot from three-point range and made seven 3’s in the second half finishing with 30 points. Mason Carrier chipped in for 15 points, while Oliver Quam led the Lakers in assists with 10. Brandton Marsh led the Lakers in rebounds with eight.
The Lakers shot 28-46 (61%) from the field and 15-25 (60%) on their three-pointers. In their game the night before against Pequot Lakes, DL only shot 37% from the field and 28% from beyond the arc.
The Lakers have one more game remaining in the regular season as they take on Crosby-Ironton on Thursday night. The playoffs will begin on March 7th. The Lakers are in 4th place in the standings and would play Little Falls in the playoffs if the season were to end today. The Lakers still have a chance to share the Midstate Conference with a win against Crosby-Ironton on Thursday.
