Section Tournament Seeding Released For 2022-23 Girls Basketball Tournament

(KDLM) – Seeding has been released for the 2022-23 MSHSL Girls Basketball Section tournaments, which begin on Monday night.

The play-in round of the Section 6A tournament is tonight. #9 Lake Park-Audubon will play at #8 NCEUH, #11 Battle Lake will travel to #6 Hillcrest Lutheran and #10 Ada-Borup-West goes to #7 Rothsay. Underwood is the top seed in the North half of the tournament bracket and will face the winner of LPA vs NCEUH in the First Round on Thursday night. Other matchups include #5 Park Christian vs #4 New York Mills, #3 Breckenridge will play the winner of Hillcrest vs Battle Lake, and #2 Henning gets the winner of Rothsay vs Ada-Borup-West. Hancock, the top seed in the South, won Section 6A last year, then went on a run to win the Class A State Championship over Minneota.

In 8AA, the Perham Yellowjackets (22-3) earned the top overall seed in the tournament. They’ll face #16 Warroad on Thursday at The Hive. Other matchups include #9 Roseau vs #8 Fergus Falls (defending section champions), # 12 East Grand Forks vs #5 DGF, #13 Park Rapids vs #4 Barnesville, #11 WDC vs #6 Hawley, #14 Frazee vs #3 Pelican Rapids, #10 Menahga vs #7 Crookston and #15 Red Lake Falls vs #2 Thief River Falls.

In Section 8AAA, the 22-4 Detroit Lakes Lakers earned the #2 seed in their quest to defend their section title. They’ll face the winner of #3 Sauk Rapids-Rice and #6 Little Falls at the Lakeshirts Fieldhouse on Saturday night. Alexandria earned the top overall seed in the tournament. They await the winner of #4 Willmar vs #5 Rocori. The quarterfinal round of the 8AAA tournament is at high seeds on Wednesday, March 1.
