Laker Girls Basketball Picks Up Conference Win against Aitkin

Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – Detroit Lakes Lakers girls basketball improved to 13-3 on the season with a 57-14 MidState conference win over Aitkin on Thursday night.

The game was tied 5-5 early before Detroit Lakes went on a 26-0 run and took a 36-7 lead into halftime. Grace Gunderson led all scorers in the first half with nine points.

The Lakers held short-handed Aitkin scoreless through the first 10 minutes of the second half, opening the half on a 17-0 run.

Aitkin (6-10) was without two of their ten varsity athletes, senior Allie Kullhem fouled out midway through the second half, and multiple players had to leave the floor with injuries.

Senior Ellie Lunde led the Lakers in scoring with 13 points. Gunderson finished with nine, and Abby Larson finished with eight.

Emma Jacobson and Camille Parenteau each had four points to lead the Gobblers.

The Lakers are back in action on Friday night looking for their fifth-straight win. They’re in Park Rapids to take on the 6-6 Panthers. That game will air at KDLM. Pregame with Charlie Newland begins at 7:00, with the opening tip will be around 7:15.
