DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – A Lakes Area man raised almost $20,000 for Friends of Tamarac to honor is father who passed away unexpectedly last month.
Christian Tigges encouraged Lakes Area residents to leave a lasting impact in memory of his father Dan after offering $5,000 during Giving Hearts Day to Friends of Tamarac, a nonprofit group that supports the Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge.
“I don’t know what to say but thank you to all who donated. It has been indescribably tough losing my Dad at a time when we cannot gather to remember him, but seeing all of the support for this project has been incredible,” Christian Tigges said in a Facebook post.
The money raised will be used to complete an accessible trail near the Discovery Center at Tamarac Refuge. The trail will be completed this summer and people who have not been able to go for a stroll in the woods, will now be able to do so.
