Apr 11, 2022 | 12:53 PM

DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – MAHUBE-OTWA, a Community Action Agency that provides services and resources to help residents fight poverty in the area has created a series of videos to help highlight findings from their latest Community Needs Assessment.

The assessment gathered vital information in the Spring of 2021 from service recipients, stakeholders and staff from the five county area the organization serves: Mahnomen, Hubbard, Becker, Otter Tail and Wadena.

The organization plans to release videos each month to highlight the needs and what MAHUBE-OTWA is doing to help those in need become self-sufficient members of society.

This month, MAHUBE-OTWA is focusing on transportation costs finding that low-income households in the area on average spend about 30% of their monthly income on transportation. This finding suggests that low-income households often don’t have much money left for food, housing, childcare and other expenses.
