FARGO (KFGO/KDLM) – Many Lakes Area residents were surprised, Thursday evening when their phones issued ‘Snow Squall Warning’.
The warning was recently added to the list of watches and warnings issued throughout the year by the National Weather Service. Thursday night was the first time the snow squall warning was used in this area according to Tim Lynch, a meteorologist with the Weather Service Bureau in Grand Forks.
He said the snow squalls hit fast and visibility can be lost immediately and end sometimes within minutes but is considered a public safety hazard for those driving, the reason for the warning.
