Feb 4, 2021 | 9:33 AM

DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – Detroit Mountain has decided to close through Monday, Feb. 8 as dangerously cold temperatures are expected to sweep through the Lakes Area.

Detroit Mountain indicated that temperatures and windchill will be below their safe operating threshold of -10 degrees.

“We apologize for any inconvenience but with MN Executive Orders restricting indoor warming space under the Covid-19 pandemic, it is even more critical that we take precautions against unnecessary exposure and injury and follow our established guidelines,” a Facebook post said.

The National Weather Service says a cold front will cause temperatures to drastically plummet reaching windchills as low as 30-40 below.
