HANKINSON (KBRF/KDLM) – The 75th anniversary of the World Changmookwan Taekwondo Championships featured more than 800 competitors from 19 counties and KrisCinda Erickson of Hankinson captured a third-place title.

This year’s event was originally scheduled to take place in Thailand, but because of the Covid pandemic was unable to happen in person. Participants were required to submit their Poomsae (pattern or form) performances specific to their rank and age, and send them via email to the tournament committee in Thailand. Judges from the countries of Thailand, Korea, Indonesia, USA and Portugal viewed and scored the patterns just as they would do if the competition were done in person. The judging and winner announcements took a few weeks to complete.

Greenquist Academy had a delegation of 12 Masters and Black Belts from Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Montana participate in the competition.

When judging was complete, KrisCinda Erickson, who is a 5th Degree Master Instructor Black Belt, won the bronze medal in her division. The competition took place November 6 & 7, 2021, Harris learned of her lifetime achievement on December 10 and was awarded her Bronze medal on January 10, 2022.

Mrs. Erickson, mother of three, has been training and competing for over 25 years out of the Greenquist Academy Headquarters, Breckenridge, MN under the direction of her instructor, 8th Degree Grand Master Eric Greenquist. She is a Senior Accountant at Minn-Dak Farmer’s Cooperative in Wahpeton, North Dakota and teaches at her own Greenquist Academy Taekwondo Club in Lidgerwood, North Dakota.
