DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – The Laker girls basketball team fell to the St. Cloud Crush 58-44 at the inaugural game of the Lakeshirts Fieldhouse. The Lakers trailed 28-24 at the half and were outscored 30-20 in the second half. The Lakers leading scorer was Jacee Houser. She was the only Laker to put up double figures in the scoring department, finishing with 14 points. The Crush, a merger between St. Cloud Apollo and St. Cloud Tech schools, was led by Keira Anderson, who finished with 20 points.
The loss drops DL’s record to 1-4 on the season and they will return to action against a Section 8AAA opponent on Friday when they play at Willmar. That game can be heard on KDLM, with pregame coverage beginning at 6:45 pm.
Boys Basketball
The Laker boys basketball team saw their losing streak extended as they fell to Perham 81-57. The Yellowjackets were led by Micah Thompson, who finished the game with 27 points. Mason Carrier led the way for the Lakers, finishing with 21 points.
Detroit Lakes drops to 1-5 on the season and have now lost five straight. They return to the Lakeshirts Fieldhouse on Saturday when they take on the Fergus Falls Otters.
