Laker Dance Wins Jazz Competition At Lone Home Meet, Takes Second in Kick

Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – The Detroit Lakes Laker Dance team took first place in the jazz portion of their home meet on Saturday afternoon, and have taken first at their last two meets.

The Lakers scored a ranking point total of 3 points to win the combined Class AA/AAA field, beating Bemidji (6) and Willmar (10) for the top spot. Moorhead and Pequot Lakes also competed.

The Laker Kick team took second place on Saturday with a ranking point total of 6, and were edged out by Bemidji (5) for the winner of the kick competition. Pequot Lakes finished in third place with an 8.5.

In Class A, the Frazee Flygirls won the Varsity Jazz portion of the competition with a ranking point total of 3. Crosby-Ironton finished in second with a 6, and Minnewaska was the third-place finisher with a 9. Minnewaska did win the Class A Kick competition with a ranking point total of 4. Crosby-Ironton finished in second place with 5, and Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton finished third with an 11.5.

The Lakers’ next meet will be at Frazee on Friday, December 18th followed by a meet the following day in Melrose.
