ROSEMOUNT, Minn. – Another Minnesota natural gas utility is warning customers that their heating bills are likely going up this year.
Minnesota Energy Resources says the price of natural gas has more than double this year due to tight supplies and a worldwide increase in demand. Research done by the company predicts typical residential customers will pay 44 dollars more a month this winter compared to last year. That analysis assumes typical winter weather for Minnesota.
The state Department of Commerce says there is energy assistance available to around 600-thousand Minnesota households.
