Detroit Lakes , MN (KDLM)-
Becker County residents will have an opportunity to support local nonprofits, schools and community organizations during Minnesota’s annual Give to the Max Day on Thursday, November 19.
Some of the local organizations participating in the online giving campaign include the Becker County Food Pantry, Becker County United Way, HIA Hospice, Lakes Area Crisis Center and The Boys and Girls Club of Detroit Lakes.
Jenna Atkinson, Unit Director for the Boys and Girls club in Detroit Lakes says donations this time of year are especially helpful with the Holidays just around the corner.
Give to the Max began in 2009 as a one-time campaign celebrating the launch of GiveMN.org, Minnesota’s online home for charitable giving. The first event raised 14 million dollars in just 24 hours, far exceeding expectations and launching what has become an annual Minnesota tradition.
Now in its 18th year, the campaign has brought together nearly one million donors who have contributed more than 400 million dollars to approximately 14,000 Minnesota nonprofits and schools.
Early giving began November 1, so donations can be made ahead of the official event.
Residents can find all local organizations, make donations and follow fundraising totals by visiting GiveMN.org.
