Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – Week Nine of the college football season brings a Halloween Saturday slate for the region’s top programs, with both North Dakota schools trying to bounce back from losses and Minnesota looking to build on a rivalry win.
North Dakota is 6-and-3 and 3-and-2 in Missouri Valley play after a 26-to-23 loss at South Dakota on Saturday. The Fighting Hawks have dropped two of their last three games. They visit Youngstown State Saturday, with kickoff at 11:00 a.m.
North Dakota State is 6-and-2 in its first season of FBS football as a member of the Mountain West. The Bison fell 21-to-16 at New Mexico on Saturday night, and the Lobos put it away with a fourth-quarter interception returned for a touchdown. The Bison come home to the Fargodome to host UTEP Saturday at 2:30 p.m., the first meeting ever between the two programs.
Minnesota is 5-and-2 and 3-and-1 in the Big Ten after keeping Floyd of Rosedale away from Iowa. Kicker Luke Drzewiecki hit a 46-yard field goal with three seconds left to give the Gophers a 13-to-10 win Saturday at Huntington Bank Stadium. The Minnesota defense picked off the Hawkeyes three times. The Gophers visit Indiana Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
