Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – The Vikings hope to remain perfect when they visit the New Orleans Saints on Sunday at Caesars Superdome. Kickoff is set for 12:00 p.m.
Minnesota is leading the NFC North after starting the season 4-and-0.
Star receiver Justin Jefferson could be back in the lineup after missing the Miami game with an ankle injury. Jefferson got hurt on the first series of the Tampa Bay game and didn’t return. Follow-up imaging showed no long-term damage, and the team called him day-to-day.
Head coach Kevin O’Connell says Jefferson is progressing well and worked through much of the early soreness last week. O’Connell says the team will see how much Jefferson can handle in practice before deciding on Sunday. With a bye week coming up next, the Vikings could choose to play it safe and give him extra time to heal.
Jefferson has 13 catches for 179 yards and two touchdowns through three games this season.
Wide receiver Jordan Addison is also making progress. He was upgraded to a limited participant in Thursday’s practice after sitting out Wednesday with a hamstring injury. Addison stepped up as the top target with Jefferson out, catching five passes for 90 yards and a 41-yard touchdown from Kyler Murray against Tampa Bay. He added four catches for 52 yards against Miami.
The Vikings will release their final injury designations for Sunday’s game later today.
