Detroit Lakes , MN (KDLM)- Minnesota House Speaker and Republican Gubernatorial Nominee Lisa Demuth presented her plan to address public safety in the state if she were elected Governor. Demuth held a press conference Thursday, and says that crime in Minnesota, especially in the Twin Cities has been rampant since 2020.
Demuth also says she will increase penalties for drivers who flee from police, and she would also have their drivers license rescinded if they were to be convicted. Demuth also wants those who are convicted of embezzling over $100,000 in state taxpayer money to serve 20 year prison sentences and pay restitution.
Meanwhile, Demuth and DFL Gubernatorial Nominee and U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar have agreed to a second debate that will happen in Rochester on October 21st at 7pm. The debate will be presented by Fox 9 and Gray Television.
