Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – The Minnesota Wild are expected to ice something close to their opening night lineup tonight (Friday) as they close out the preseason against the Dallas Stars at Grand Casino Arena.
Puck drop is set for 7:00 p.m. Top players Kirill Kaprizov, Matt Boldy and Quinn Hughes are expected to make their only preseason appearance.
The game is a rematch from Wednesday night in Dallas, where the Stars shut out the Wild 2-0. Dallas goaltender Rémi Poirier stopped all 24 shots he faced, while Matthew Seminoff and Esa Lindell scored. Jesper Wallstedt made 22 saves in his first preseason action for Minnesota. The loss dropped the Wild to 1-1-1 in exhibition play.
Dallas will be without starting goaltender Jake Oettinger, who is resting a lower-body injury. Casey DeSmith is expected to start in net. Veteran center Tyler Seguin could make his preseason debut after surgery last December to repair a torn ACL.
Tonight is also a final audition for a couple of Wild prospects. The team trimmed its roster to 27 players this week and must get down to the 23-man limit before opening night. Forward Charlie Stramel, Minnesota’s first-round draft pick in 2023, and defenseman David Špaček are still in camp.
The Wild open the regular season Thursday, October 1st, when they visit the Nashville Predators. Minnesota went 46-24-12 last season and finished third in the Central Division.
