Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – The Minnesota Twins open their final series of the season tonight at Target Field, and while their own playoff hopes are gone, they could shake up the American League West race.
Minnesota hosts the Texas Rangers for a three-game set, with first pitch tonight at 7:10 p.m.
The Twins were eliminated from postseason contention last weekend in Anaheim, but they head into the weekend playing their best baseball in a while. Minnesota has won back-to-back games and three of its last four, and sits at 75-84.
The stakes are much higher for Texas. The Rangers (79-80) entered Thursday tied with the Houston Astros for first place in the AL West, and only one of the two teams is expected to reach the postseason. Houston spends the weekend playing the Athletics in Sacramento.
Texas snapped a three-game losing streak with a 3-1 win over the New York Mets on Thursday. Jacob deGrom is scheduled to start tonight for the Rangers.
The series continues Saturday at 3:10 p.m. and wraps up the season Sunday at 2:10 p.m.
