Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – Minnesota Lynx guard Kayla McBride now stands alone in the WNBA record book.
McBride made 10 three-pointers in Sunday’s 103 to 90 win over the Dallas Wings at Target Center, breaking a single-game mark that had stood at nine since 2019. Eight players had reached nine threes in a game before Sunday, including Atlanta’s Rhyne Howard twice and Toronto’s Marina Mabrey twice this season.
The five-time All-Star finished 10-of-14 from behind the arc and 16-of-21 overall, scoring a career-high 43 points. That total ranks third in Lynx franchise history.
The record breaker came with 2:23 to play and put Minnesota ahead 98 to 83. McBride left the game with 1:21 remaining to a standing ovation. McBride said afterward, thanking fans and the organization.
Rookie guard Olivia Miles set up much of it, handing out 13 assists and adding 20 points of her own. Eight of McBride’s makes came off Miles passes. Napheesa Collier scored 17 points with eight rebounds and four steals, and Natasha Howard added 12.
The Lynx set a franchise record as a team as well, connecting on 18 of 39 attempts from three-point range for 46.2%. Minnesota forced 19 Dallas turnovers and turned them into 26 points.
Paige Bueckers led the Wings with 23 points and eight assists. Aziaha James scored 19 and Odyssey Sims added 17. Dallas fell to 19 and 14.
Minnesota improved to 27 and 7, and the win made the Lynx the first team in the league to clinch a playoff berth. It was their 12th victory in 13 games, and they have topped 100 points four times in their last six.
The Lynx are back in action Wednesday night at Portland, tipping off at 9:00 p.m.
