St. Paul, MN – The Minnesota DNR is warning that hot summer weather is creating stressful conditions for fish across the state.
Officials say they’ve received more than 200 reports of fish mortality events this year, with warm water and low oxygen levels contributing to fish deaths in lakes and rivers.
The DNR is asking Minnesotans to report fish kills they observe online and says shoreline vegetation and reducing runoff can help improve fish habitat. Anglers are also urged to handle and release fish carefully during periods of extreme heat.
