Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – Minnesota Lynx rookie guard Olivia Miles made WNBA history Monday night, becoming the first player in league history to record 400 points, 100 rebounds and 100 assists in just 22 career games.
Miles scored a career-high 33 points — a franchise rookie record — as the Lynx held off the Phoenix Mercury, 104-100, at Target Center for their third straight win. She finished 10 of 16 from the field, including five of eight from three-point range, and added three rebounds and eight assists.
Guard Kayla McBride matched Miles with 37 points, and the pair combined for 70, marking the first time in Lynx history that two players scored 30 or more points in the same game. McBride’s sixth three-pointer of the night gave Minnesota a 101-98 lead with 45.1 seconds left.
Miles drove into the lane and found Natasha Howard for a layup with 21.1 seconds remaining to push the lead to 103-100, then sealed the win by making one of two free throws after a Courtney Williams steal.
Natasha Howard added 13 points and seven assists for Minnesota, while Courtney Williams and Eliska Hamzova each scored eight.
The win improved the Lynx to 18-6 on the season, the best record in the WNBA. Minnesota hosts the Los Angeles Sparks Wednesday, July 15th at 1:00 p.m. at Target Center.
